Standard #3 - Classroom Management
Good classroom management embodies this standard because in order to promote a healthy learning environment, a teacher must first be able to establish a foundation of guidelines, goals, and principles for the students to aspire towards. Collaborating with students about what rules they want to set in place and what they want to learn will make the learning experience that much more meaningful for the students, and in turn they will be more respectful towards the teacher and each other.

Standard #3 - Seating Assignments and Self-Motivation
I chose this reading reflection of Dr. Karin Hendricks and John Findlay's article "Seating Assignments: Are They Necessary?" for a couple reasons. Primarily, I believe traditional seating methods hinder healthy collaboration and musical expression within an ensemble. Also, I believe competition should not be a long-term motivator, and rather we should strive to provide more opportunities for students to work together and develop leadership skills as well as self-motivating techniques.
